In response to: We Must Take This Opportunity to Improve Riverside Routes

The Yvonne Arnaud Theatre is very supportive of the council’s ambition to open up the riverside by means of a riverside walk.

The theatre, as Guildford residents know, sits on an island surrounded by the river, a beautiful location but one not well connected with the town and it is easy for it to get overlooked.

Our own plans to rejuvenate and make accessible our glorious building include opening up our public spaces and our garden to more daytime activity, concerts and outdoor events, plus generating additional critical income from our café and bars.

A bridge linking the theatre’s island to the St Mary’s Wharf development would bring more people to our front door and boost our plans for regeneration.
