In response to: Stop Cutting Back in the Bird Nesting Season

My understanding is that these are works to remove trees affected by Ash dieback.  The work was scheduled to be completed before the nesting season but overran due to operational issues.

Before removing the trees our contractor is undertaking a visual inspection and if a nest is present we undertake a risk assessment.

So far, they have not identified any nesting birds and continue to work to minimise unnecessary removal.

However, the critical nature of the trees is such that we must balance this with the safety of highway users.
