Julian Lyon’s comment on the opinion piece Opinion: Come Friendly Hurricane And Blow Over Pewley Down, with its reference to Betjeman’s poem and unsightly items, brought to my mind the items that annoy me. They are all the posts left at the side of roads that must have been put up for a purpose but are now long redundant. The signs were removed the posts were just left there.

There are some all round the borough. Have a look out for them when next in your car.  Whose are they, the borough’s or the county council’s?

Perhaps you could provide an image or two by way of example? I expect they come under ‘Highways’ at the county council. Ed
