Lib Dem Leader Visits Guildford as Election Remains Too Close to Call

Guildford’s Lib Dem candidate for Guildford Zoe Franklin with visiting party leader Jo Swinson who encouraged campaigners to make one last push to “Stop Brexit!”

Jo Swinson the Liberal Democrat leader visited Guildford today in a PR exercise to encourage campaigners and maximise the chance of defeating the Tories here.

The event was not widely announced and took place in Jacobs Well Village Hall as opposed to the town centre where it could have got more public attention.

Instead, it seemed to be aimed primarily at the national media, although around 50 Lib Dem activists present were obviously delighted to be visited by their leader and have a chance to speak to her and get the, now obligatory, selfies. One of those was former Lib Dem Guildford MP, Sue Doughty.

After a short speech on the importance of victory to “Stop Brexit!” The Guildford Dragon NEWS was given an interview so long as we understood responses would be from a national perspective because the visit was being funded from their national campaign budget.
