The M25 was closed this morning anti-clockwise between Junction 10 (A3) and Junction 8 (Reigate) with a temporary diversion in place following a single-vehicle collision.
Officers were called at 11.50pm last night (January 5) to reports of a lorry colliding with the central reservation. Officers attended along with colleagues from Surrey Fire and Rescue and National Highways. The driver of the lorry did not sustain any injuries.
The diversion, which directed drivers onto the A240 then A217, remained in place until 7am.
At 11am, the M25 will be fully closed between J10-J8 anti-clockwise for up to five hours to allow for a full resurface. During this time, the previous diversion will be in place again. National Highways are working towards fully re-opening the road by this evening’s rush hour.
In the meantime, Surrey Police are asking motorists to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.
A police spokesperson said: “Thank you for your patience and cooperation, National Highways will bring you further updates as they become available.”
