Police are investigating an assault and attempted rape in West Horsley.
Officers were called shortly after 3pm on Tuesday afternoon (May 14) after a report of a woman being attacked by a man while she was out walking a dog in woodland just past the railway bridge at the end of Lollesworth Lane.
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and common assault. He remains in police custody at this time.
A police spokesperson said there will be an increased police presence in the village while police carry out our enquiries over the coming days, alongside proactive reassurance patrols in the area. Those who have any safety concerns are asked not to hesitate to speak to officers when encountered.
The spokesperson continued: “We are looking to speak to anyone who might have been in the area around Lollesworth Lane between 2.15pm and 3.25pm on Tuesday afternoon and who might have seen anything suspicious during this time.
