Worplesdon Memorial Hall and its recreation ground is celebrating its centenary this weekend with a number of events.
A peal of bells will be rung at St Mary’s Church, Perry Hill, Worplesdon, on Thursday, October 13, at 10.30am.
On Friday, October 14, there will be a centenary ceremony and presentation of a centenary clock by the Lord Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux, at 3pm for invited guests.
There is a jazz night on Saturday, October 15, from 7pm with Joanna Eden and Enrico Tomasso. They will be celebrating with music by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong.
Tickets in advance at £15 with optional extra for food at £10.
Sunday afternoon, October 16, sees an event to celebrate the hall’s first 100 years.
There will be an illustrated talk on the history of the hall and recreation ground and its many users and events by local historians David Rose and Geoff Burch, followed by musical entertainment by Sunflower Productions. Entry £5, with refreshments available.
