Since Sunday, December 8, Guildford United Reformed Church in Portsmouth Road has been hosting a Christmas Tree Festival.

Communities and groups linked to the church have been decorating trees to add fun, light, atmosphere and colour to their festivities this Christmas.

Throughout the festival, the church has been collecting for two local charities and money raised will be divided equally between Cherry Trees and Guildford Street Angels.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Guildford, who attended the carol service on December 8, with the Cherry Trees Christmas tree.

Cherry Trees provides home-from-home respite care for children and young people with severe learning and physical disabilities.

Street Angels are volunteers working on the streets of Guildford at night, who believe that people deserve care and love in their time of need.

The final public event will be a candlelit carol service this Sunday, December 22, at 6pm, which is open to everyone. Mulled wine and mince pies will be provided after the service.

A collection will be made for Guildford Action, a local charity which has been working within the local community for over 30 years helping individuals experiencing homelessness as well as isolated families.
