A drop-in morning at Shah’s Secreto restaurant at 260-262 High Street, Guildford is taking place on Wednesday, June 27, 9.30am to 11.30am.

Hosted by Helpike, anyone aged 18 and over can attend and it is aimed at people who have some spare time to give or have some skills to teach people, or anyone who may be feeling lonely.

The restaurant owner Shah Siddique, explains the project he and his wife are setting up: “We are at the beginning stage with Helpika, and we want to work hard to create an impact in our local community.

Currently, I am involved in some projects in Bangladesh and my wife has been involved in charity projects in Ukraine. We have now decided to use our restaurant in Guildford to help people.

“At this stage we are in a consultation period. We are planning to register Helpika as a non for profit, limited by guarantee, company.

“Transparency is very import to us. However, we still need help with policies, a constitution and to ultimately register Helpike as a charity with the Charity Commission.

“At the moment we need ideas to run different and interesting events and classes, or to deliver some useful skill or respite. In these financial circumstances, lot of people are suffering from stress and anxiety. Our plan is to help our local community so we can create something unique and useful.

If you would like to attend the drop-in morning on Wednesday, June 27, email your RSVP to: helpika@gmail.com
