Why Do Some People Always Spoil It For Others?

Wool Week Scarves

A wool week scarf on George Abbot (he actually did try to regenerate Guildford’s wool trade).

Last week was National Wool Week and the Guildford Book Festival.

To celebrate these events, some very nice people spent some considerable time and effort creating “Yarnbomb” art installations at various sites around the town.  Two of these were our High Street statues, George Abbott and the Guildford Scholar, who were brightened up with colourful woollen scarves.

Sadly, before the end of the week, both of these scarves appear to have been stolen.  The pictures show the statues and the scarves.

May I ask that other readers of the Guildford Dragon keep an eye out and if they should find them discarded about the town they retrieve them and drop them into Guildford Library, where they can be reunited with their owners.

The Flying Scholar, dressed to keep out the autumn chills before some stole his scarf.

Equally, if you should see someone you know wearing one of the scarves, perhaps you might have a quiet word with them and suggest that they hand it in to the library to ease their conscience.
