The new Mayor and Mayoress of Guildford, Dennis and Mary Booth, attended the Surrey Police band’s “Platinum Jubilee Concert” last night (May 22) at Normandy village hall.

It was their third event of the day. They had already attended, at 11am, the Woking Gymnastic Club festival at Guildford Spectrum and an event for the mayor’s chosen charity Challengers which supports thousands of disabled children and young people.

The Surrey Police Band event was very well attended by over 150 people. Musical director Graham Atterbury oversaw the almost three-hour programme which was held in support of Woking Mind, Gavin Stephens, Surrey Chief Constable’s nominated charity.

The police band is self-supporting, funded by the subscription of its members. They not only got the event ready, with pictures of the Queen and balloons, but also served the refreshments in the interval.
