Police Seek Help In Tracking Man’s Last Movements

Surrey Police is investigating the circumstances leading to a man’s death following the discovery of a body in Guildford town centre on Monday (February 6).

The man, who was found in Eastgate Gardens at around 9.30am, has been formally identified as Christopher Gould. The 54-year-old was of no fixed address.

A post-mortem examination has been carried out and the cause of death is unexplained.

Officers are appealing for members of the public to come forward with any information.

Detective Inspector Pete Howgate, said: “We need the public’s help in piecing together the last movements of Mr Gould so that we can try and establish the circumstances which led to his death.

“Christopher was of no fixed abode and had been recently staying at a homeless shelter in Guildford. I ask for anyone who may have seen Christopher on Sunday, February 5 through to the early hours of Monday, 6 February to get in touch. Any information, however small it may seem could be crucial to the investigation.”
