On Tuesday August 4, the senior men’s team lost to Godalming, away, by 23-42 (-19).

At the half way mark we were ahead by 15-14. But, it was like bowling on a skating rink! And after tea they slid ahead.

Did we tire? Or did they just get better? The standard bowls post-game questions!

Individual results were:
Rob Williams (skip), Nick Hinde, David Taylor: 9-20 (behind at 9 ends by just one point at 5-6).
Colin Summerhayes (skip), Rob Helliwell, Derek Redgwell: 14-22 (ahead at 9 ends by 10-8).

On a nice warm Sunday afternoon, August 2, Castle Green were beaten by nine9 points, at home, by visitors from Pippbrook (Dorking).

Final results were 48-57, despite us winning on two rinks and being just one point down at 10 ends.

It all went pear-shaped on one rink after that, as their skip and number 2 got to know our rink 2 better than we did. Ah me! That’s bowls for you!

Nevertheless, a good time was had by all, and we enjoyed a delicious tea thanks to Jim, Wendy, Sydney and Dorothy.

It was good to see Dorothy up and about after her operation. Dennis attended as reserve. And Bill acted as cheerleader.

Individual results were:
C Summerhayes (skip), J Phillips, P May: 15-14.
