I was an evacuee from London living with a cousin in Westborough from 1939 to 1942 often which I returned home to go to secondary school.

During my stay with her I accompanied her every Saturday to the town on a Safeguard bus.

There was much speculation whether the Aldershot & District bus could go faster!

The war resulted in bus tyres being used to their maximum extent judging from the canvas showing through their treads.
