A burglar smashed his way into a Merrow property last week and made off with a quantity of cash and jewellery.
The incident occurred last Thursday, June 22 (2017) at around 1.15 pm when the intruder broke into the house on Merrow Lane.
Having searched the house and taken the cash and jewellery the man was disturbed in the garden and seen to run off towards the business park and Surrey County Council Depot.
There he was seen to get into a Black Vauxhall Antara, and drive at speed onto Merrow Lane towards Park Lane.
Surrey Police is now appealing for witnesses. The man is described as white, aged 17- to 18-years-old, of slim build. He was wearing a grey zip up hooded top, dark trousers and a dark coloured baseball cap.
Detective Constable, Richard Pegden, investigating officer, said: “I am appealing to the public to help me find the man responsible for this crime.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this man acting suspiciously around or near the entrance to the business park between 1pm and 1.15 pm on Thursday, 22 June.
“The area would have been busy with staff from the business park on their lunch-breaks. In particular, there may have been witnesses to the vehicle driving at speed in the Park Lane or A25 area, at that time.”
DC Pegden added “Any information you have could help us establish the events that afternoon. I must commend the quick actions of the occupant of the house, in reporting this matter to the police so quickly.”
A police spokesman said: “Anybody with information is urged to call 101 quoting crime reference number 45170066457 or you can use the online reporting system found at https://report.police.uk/ and enter the reference number in the ‘Additional information’ section.”
