The Stoke Road Four: – Andrew Curtis, Diana Pollock, Shauna Stanton (seated), and ceramicist Terri Smart

Report and photos by Mandy Millyard

Four Guildford artists, known as “The Stoke Road Four”, have come together to take part in the Surrey Artists’ Open Studios event.

Shauna Stanton, Diana Pollock, Andrew Curtis and Terri Smart know one another professionally and socially.  They are a group of artists who live close to each other, within the central Guildford area and meet regularly to discuss and support each other in the creative process.

The four have exhibited collaboratively in the past, as well as in previous Open Studios and hope that by exhibiting as a group, they can provide a more interesting and diverse set up for the visiting public.

Their work represents drawing, painting and mixed media, as well as sculpture and pottery and they hope that the public will enjoy the contrasts but also the common themes.

Left a bit, right a bit… that’s it – just hold it there until tomorrow…

Many of their more recent pieces will be on display, and for sale.

The Stoke Road Four’s Open Studio is at 123, Stoke Road, Guildford, GU1 1ET.

Selecting which ones and where…

Sunday, June 11 – 11am to 5pm

An Interesting and informative piece which gives useful insight into an obviously talented group of individuals. I look forward to seeing the Open Studios event.

Glad to see my old mate, the wonderful and talented Diana Pollock, still painting and drawing! Look forward to seeing more work and exhibitions and catching up.
