Surrey County Table Tennis Notes July 2023

Krish Chotai.

At the Senior Schools International in Ireland Krish Chotai (New Malden) won the gold medal in the individual under-16’s Boys tournament.

In the Under-16’s Boys team event Krish’s team won silver just missing out on gold by 11-9 in the fifth set of the fifth match.

Radoslav Kamberov.

Surrey-based Radoslav Kamberov (New Malden) won the Men’s Singles title at the Gloucester Grand Prix.  Nahom Asgedom was runner-up in the Men’s Band 1 event.

Vadzim Antonau (New Malden) was Runner-up in the Men’s Band 2 event.

The Hereford 2 star Senior tournament saw Radoslav Kamberov become runner-up while Vadzim Antonau was a semi-finalist.

At the European Games Surrey-based Paul Drinkhall (Ashford) was knocked out at the last 32 stage in Krakow.

Evelyn Pace finished tenth in the Girls Junior National Cup.

The Surrey under-9 and under-11 closed tournament took place on Saturday, June 17, with a number of players playing in their first tournament.

Yusuf Jamaluddin and Benjamin Whitby-Smith.

In the final of the under-9 Boys, Benjamin Whitby-Smith (New Malden) beat Yusuf Jamaluddin (New Malden) 3-2 (8-11, 6-11, 11-9, 11-2, 11-8).

In the under-11 Girls Davia Ansong won and Chloe Chung was runner-up.

Yusuf Jamaluddin again lost in the final of the under-11 Boys event 3-2 this time to Frankie Wong (12-14, 11-7, 10-12, 11-5, 11-3).

Congratulations go to team Kingston Boys and Girls at the London Youth Games finishing third and fourth respectively.
