The planned upgrade of The Guildford Dragon NEWS website has now been successfully completed thanks to Delivered Social the Guildford-based social media and marketing agency.
The website has been moved from a large USA-based hosting company to a bespoke server here in Guildford. The move means that website speed and reliability have been greatly improved which should increase reader satisfaction significantly.
Dragon editor Martin Giles said: “We are tremendously grateful to Jonathan Bird and his team at Delivered Social. The migration of the website has brought a marked improvement in performance which will mean fewer annoying connectivity issues and less downtime. The site speed has also increased remarkably. We can’t thank Delivered Social enough.”
Jonathan the founder and “head honcho” of Delivered Social, who volunteered to do the work on a pro bono basis, said: “Community projects and news really helped residents during the pandemic – it’s important that businesses help where they can to ensure these vital services continue.”
Martin Giles added: “I would also like to make an appeal for volunteers, with sufficient writing skills, to join the Dragon Team. We have several roles available including sports editor, notices editor and parish reporters. The work can be very satisfying ensuring your community is kept well informed. Anyone interested should write to me at: mgilesdragon@gmail.com.”
Some continuity work on the site remains to be completed and some recent stories have images missing. These will be restored as soon as possible.

Wow that’s quick, the upload that is… improved by about 10 times. Well done to the back room boys, excellent work.

Well done for tackling the latency and the availability.
Not easy working with all this content. The site now feels very responsive and fluid.

Well done on the update, Dragon.
Quite a noticeable increase in speed and I notice that all articles now include the date of publication and date of any update – something that I’ve long felt was missing. Thank you.
