Are you looking to try something different in the new year? The Guildford Institute’s spring programme is out now!

With a broad range of courses, talks, trips, music recitals and exhibitions available, the institute aims to offer something for everyone in 2015.

More than 40 courses will be on offer this spring, with subjects including art history, drawing and painting, philosophy and theatre studies.

The brochure for the Guildford Institute's spring 2015 courses is now available.

Adding to the institute’s established course programme is a brand-new social sciences course, Evocations of Guildford: Place, Identity and Belonging. Social sciences tutor Karen Izod will lead an interactive workshop exploring how place influences our sense of who we are and who we can be.

The Guildford Dragon NEWS’ David Rose will be tutoring once again on the subject of Guildford’s modern history. Over four sessions he will be covering topics to include Guildford’s stormy past, local transport, the parish of Stoke, and treasures from Victorian and Edwardian rubbish tips! Items from his collection will also be on display and there will be time for discussion.

Other highlights also include a special talk marking the 800th anniversary of the sealing of the Magna Carta. This talk will be given by the highly-esteemed Professor Nigel Saul, former head of history at Royal Holloway University.

Also available is a talk given by award-winning former royal photographer Jayne Fincher, titled Travels with the Royals and Beyond, and the popular architectural historian Alfred Rowe will give a lecture on Viennese architecture.

The institute’s trips programme also promises to be popular this spring, with a private guided tour of The Horse at War exhibition at The Lightbox, plus bespoke tours of The Wallace Collection, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, and Guildford’s Abbot’s Hospital.
