On Saturday, May 9, Castle Green had a tough game against Hayling Island (a 100-strong club), who managed a convincing win by 77 to our 36.

We played against superior competition on all three rinks, with the following teams and results:

J Bird (skip), R Helliwell, D Summerhayes : 13-24
R  Williams (skip), J Hinde, N hinde: 12-22

It’s an incentive to do better next time!

On Sunday, March 10, Castle Green held its annual captain’s versus president’s game, in which the men, led by Captain Colin Summerhayes, played the ladies, led by president Shirley West.

The men expected the ladies to win, but got it wrong – the captain’s team won.

The leading men’s team was Brian West (skip), Rob Helliwell, and Bill Lane; the leading ladies team was Jill Bird (skip) Lynn Smith, Janet Williams, and Ann Lewis.

The weather was gorgeous – a fine spring day. And a great deal of delicious food was provided, laid out by Ann Bailey, to reward the players at the end of the afternoon.
