Town Centre Assault – Man Suffered Head Injuries

logo-surrey-police-darkBGA 21-year-old man was left with head injuries following an assault near the taxi rank in North Street around 3.45am on Sunday (March 10).

He was approached by a group of four males. as he was walking away from the taxi rank towards North Street. One of the four men attacked him causing him to fall to the ground.

The victim lost consciousness and was taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford but was discharged later that day. Surrey Police is now appealing for witnesses.

The main suspect is described as white, in his early 20s, 5 ft 10 to 5 ft 11 tall, of a stocky build, with short brown hair and was wearing a white shirt.

Detective Constable Russell Cannon, who is investigating the incident, said: “There were a lot of people around at the time of the incident and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed this attack, or with any other information, to come forward as soon as possible.”

Later police reported that four men, two aged 18 years from Dunsfold, one aged 16 years from Cranleigh, and one aged 18 years from Wisbech, Norfolk, were arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with this incident. They have been released on police bail, pending further enquiries, to return to Guildford police station on 15 April.
