Travellers return to Bannisters Field

Travellers return to Bannisters Field.

Travellers have returned to Bannisters Field on Egerton Road near the Tesco store and the Royal Surrey County Hospital.

Councillor Julia McShane (Lib Dem, Westborough) reports on her Facebook page that they are the same group that pitched camp there two weeks ago but moved on quickly. On the previous occasion it was stated that one of their party was an expectant mother who needed medical treatment at the hospital.

Guildford Borough Council provided a skip and portable lavatories, as it was oblige to do, and it was reported that the site was left tidy.

Yesterday a group of travellers were reported on Stoke Park but it has not been confirmed that this is the same group.

Having had these travellers trespass and occupy the fields two weeks ago, what action has the council taken to protect these public open spaces? This is not a designated area for travellers according to any local plan that I know.

Having been forewarned, surely putting in a few vehicle blocks such as tree logs (similar to that in Worplesdon) would prevent unauthorised access?

I might be mistaken but I have not seen any portable lavatories on the site.

What sanitary arrangement are available for these visitors to use?
