A volunteer-led charity running group for women affected by homelessness is appealing for donations of good condition second-hand kit and trainers.

The Guildford group of A Mile In Her Shoes was launched in March and is the first of its kind outside London. They are now meeting regularly on Monday afternoons. Its leader is Carol Dunnett, the chief officer of Voluntary Action South West Surrey.

Carol, a keen runner herself, said: “The group is for women affected by homelessness, they might not be actually homeless; but might have been in the past or might be at risk or vulnerable. It helps them find their feet through running and keeping fit.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in helping out – especially if they either already have the Leadership in Running Fitness Qualification or are interested in gaining it.  The charity can reimburse the costs of doing the course once someone has volunteered for a certain number of sessions.”

If you can donate items or would like more information about the Guildford group, call Carol Dunnett on 01483 504626 or send her an email at dunnettcarol@gmail.com
