Guildford Dragon reader, Gordon Bridger, ex Town Mayor, wrote in to say what a wonderful year it seemed for the tulips in the Castle Grounds. He sent in a photo to prove it.
We decided to follow up on this photo opportunity and share the spectacle with our other readers. If you can’t manage to go and see the show for yourself (do try, the Castle Grounds are a wonderful public amenity) at least you can enjoy the photos.

David Rose, who took the photos, said: “I was held up by a sudden hail storm on Thursday as I was making my way to the Castle Grounds. I sheltered until it was over, hoping that the sun would then come out to shine on the blooms in the Castle Grounds wet with April showers.
“I was certainly in luck and (for the technically minded) my trusty Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ6 didn’t let me down. The light was surprisingly good for photography, considering it was the middle of the day.
“I like the zoom on this little camera, it works well in these situations. However, I did have to lay down flat on the path for a couple of shots of these really colourful spring flowers.”
We hope to add a comment or two soon from the parks department about the gardens so please check back.
