All are invited to the official unveiling on Saturday, June 7, at 11am, by the Mayor of Guildford, David Elms.

There will also be refreshments in the bowls club’s clubhouse, a display by Shirley West of postcards and photographs featuring the Castle Grounds at the time of the Great War, music in the bandstand, while local historian David Rose will also be giving a short talk about the war memorial and some of those who are commemorated on it.

Shirley also took this delightful photo of poppies in bloom in the Castle Grounds. Looks like the parks department have surpassed themselves once again with their planting schemes.
