Young Music Talent on Show at Guildford City Club’s Juice Box

Live music at the Guildford City Club in Joseph’s Road, Guildford on Thursday, April 16, features young local artists, most of whom are connected in some way to an open mic night there, called Juice Box, which has been building momentum for a year or so.

The musicians are from Guildford’s ACM music college and the University of Surrey.

One attender says: “I am definitely not the average regular. However it has become my favourite night out for live music with very cheap drinks and a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.

“I have been made to feel very welcome and I absolutely believe it is Guildford’s best kept secret.

“It’s genuinely such a pleasure to find somewhere that is a regular outlet for these young people and I think some of the songs they play would surprise the older generation.

“Last week I saw Jegcoustics (one of the acts performing on the 16th) covering early Beatles tracks, Buddy Holly and Hopelessly Devoted To You from the Grease soundtrack.

“Meg and Jack, who form the duo, are both exceptional musicians and I would pay good money to see them perform their set.

“Joyce is another regular at the open mic, who sings in both English and French. Her style is so unique and her delivery is very compelling.”

Juice Box is on every other Thursday, with karaoke on intermittent Thursdays. See poster above for times and entry price. Scan the QR code for more details.
