A brewery that gives away free beer is bound to draw a large crowd. And that’s exactly what happned today (Saturday, May 21) at Guildford micro-brewery The Little Beer Corporation.
It held its annual open day at its plant on the Midleton Industrial Estate. A range of its craft cask and keg beers were available to try and well as the opportunity to purchase more of its products to take home.
The founder and owner of the brewery, Jim Taylor, gave tours of the brewery and explained the brewing process he uses, giving fascinating insights into the variety of beers currently in production and the ingredients that go into them.
The Little Beer Corporation was founded in 2012 in premises on the Slyfield Industrial Estate. Production soon outgrew that site and in 2014 it was relocated to where it is now.
It offers a range of bottled, keg and cask beers: from IPA and pale ales based on recipes from the UK and America, a milk stout, Vienna and Pilsner lagers, to special brews that include one that’s flavoured with raspberries.
At the open day it was offering its new Growler litre bottles of beer. On offer on the day for £5, once drunk you can return to the brewery with the empty swing-stopped bottle and have it refilled for £2.50, with more of its carbonated filtered beer.
Its beers can be found in an increasing number of Surrey pubs (the Robin Hood and the Weyside being two in Guildford) and also in pubs in and around London.
