Castle Green Bowlers Celebrate 90th Birthday Amid Regular Matches

On a somewhat cloudy but warm summer afternoon on August 13, Castle Green Bowling Club’s (CGBC) mens’ team lost their Tuesday Triples league match at home against the league leaders, Astolat, by  23-40, a margin of 17 points.

Rob Williams’ team of Paul Plummer and Colin Summerhayes lost by 10-26; Brian West’s team of Peter Smith and Nick Hinde narrowly lost by 13-14, after leading by one point at half time.

On Saturday August 10, CGBC celebrated its 90th birthday with an in-house game of rotating rinks, which was won by the team of Patrick Andre, John Heyes and Mary Redgwell, led by Paul Plummer as skip.

And on a pleasant summer evening on Wednesday August 7, the club won away at Bramley Bowling Club, by 51-41.
