On a pleasant summer’s afternoon despite the grey clouds, the Castle Green Bowling Club lost in an away match against Brockham.

Ready for any weather Castle Green and Billingshurst bowlers prepare for their friendly match

Sunday July 1st

The weather looked daunting, with heavy grey skies and spitting rain, but fortunately they cleared by 3 pm and play could start on time. The photo above shows players dressed in white rain gear ready for any eventuality, with Guildford Castle in the background.

Castle Green Bowling Club (green and white kit) were playing Billingshurst (white uniforms) in a friendly inter-club match at home. It was a loss for the home team, who were trying out some beginners,  53-79.

Great fun was had by all. The winning CGBC rink was Terry Croissant (skip), Colin Summerhayes and Dennis Hirst-Marsden, pitted against Stan, Betty and Robin from Billingshurst. The other CGBC teams comprised M.Frith, J. Reeves, V, Sherwin, Dorothy and David Newman, Viv and Terry Smith, Nick Hinde, and Rob Williams.
