Surrey police have been investigating a number of incidents involving dogs being dangerously out of control in Send.

Today (Thursday) a man was arrested in connection with four offences under Section 3 of the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991.

Following the investigation, the man was issued with a police caution and an Anti-Social Behaviour Warning Letter.

Police said he had also been provided with advice and a clear warning regarding responsible dog ownership and keeping dogs under proper control. This meant that any further offending could be dealt with swiftly through both criminal and anti-social behaviour legislation.

A police statement said: “We understand that incidents involving dogs can cause significant concern in our communities, particularly where people feel threatened or injuries occur.

“We hope this outcome provides reassurance that reports of dangerous dogs are taken seriously, and that positive action will be taken where offences are identified and the evidence allows.”

The police say anyone with concerns about dangerous dogs, anti-social behaviour involving dogs or animal welfare matters should report them.

To do this, visit the Surrey Police website or call 101.

You should call 999 in an emergency, including where there is an immediate threat to life or serious injury.
