International regal guests adorned the President’s Evening at the Castle Green Bowls Club on Sunday

The reason for the Queen’s absence from the Olympic Games closing ceremony might still be a mystery but the Castle Green Bowling Club were delighted with their ‘royal’ visitors. Photos supplied by the club suggest they received very special guests on Saturday to their President’s Evening.

One of the members said: “We had a lovely fun game of bowls and then a lovely supper. It was a right royal time. Our president could not believe it when the special guest appeared. Who would have thought that she had time? We suggested she took up residence in our castle but she did not seem too keen!”
