Chance To Find Out More About The Guildford Time Bank

Published on: 9 Jul, 2018
Updated on: 9 Jul, 2018

Find out about the progress of the Guildford Time Bank, a way in which people share their skills and make friends.

Voluntary Action South West Surrey, that is supporting the Time Bank, is hosting two sessions for both current members and anyone who would like more details about the scheme.

Time is exchanged rather than money and everyone’s time is equal – an hour for an hour.

Someone may offer to mow someone’s lawn, or undertake a spot of home decorating or maintenance and by doing so earns credits by way of hours. In turn, someone else may offer their time to them, perhaps offering computer skills or teaching them to play a musical instrument.

Individuals as well as groups and organisations can become members.

The free events are:

Wednesday, July 11. the Keep pub, 29 Castle Street, Guildford GU1 3UW, from 2pm to 4pm.

Tuesday, July 24, the Park Barn Centre, Park Barn Drive, Guildford GU2 8EN, from 6pm to 8pm.

Complimentary tea, coffee and refreshments will be served.

There will be presentations about the Time Bank from Voluntary Action’s Ian Ross and David Rose. There will be the opportunity to ask plenty of questions and discuss the scheme with your thoughts and ideas.

The Guildford Time Bank team is available to help those who sign up to identify what they may have to offer and services they may like to receive.

People are put in contact with each other and arrange their services, called exchanges, accordingly. They can also check how many hours of credit they have built up.

The Guildford Time Bank is also looking for people with computer skills to volunteer to help other time bank members who are not online on a regular basis. Called Guardian Angels, they may be someone who is a key member of a community group, or organisation.

If you would like to attend, email – guildfordtimebank@gmail.comindicating which date, i.e. July 11 or July 24.

In the meantime, if you require more details, contact:
