The document will now go before the full council on April 12.

Prepared by Allies & Morrison, a public consultation for the town centre masterplan was launched by Guildford Borough Council in October.

Back then there was both criticism and support for it. Now approved, it will be used to provide evidence for the changes to the town centre that will eventually be made.

The masterplan makes recommendations on areas such as the river frontage, paths for pedestrians, the flow of traffic, as well as sites for building that include housing, business, shops and leisure facilities.
