Letter: It’s Mayhem on Local Roads

It was absolute mayhem on Wednesday this week, trying to get from Shere to Merrow. It took me an hour instead of the usual 10 minutes.
The A25 was closed near the Silent Pool and going from Shere, Combe Lane, going over to Staples Lane, was blocked. (There was a big truck stuck on the sharp bend). Going south through Shere was also madness.
From New Road you couldn’t turn right down Albury Street to Newlands Corner: the road was closed. You had to turn left and go through Albury. Then, both single lanes use Guildford Lane or Halfpenny Lane – horrific traffic.
Going through Chilworth, the road through Shalford was closed. Turning left to Wonersh and on to Bramley, one encountered all the angry people driving rudely, as they couldn’t go south through Shalford.
There seems to be absolutely no communication at SCC or Highways England about sensible road closures!
