Driver Arrested Following fatal Collision

Surrey Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Effingham last night (May 13).

Police were called following reports of a two-vehicle collision, involving a white BMW and a grey Landrover Freelander, on the A246 Guildford Road around 10.30pm.

Sadly, a passenger in the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the BMW and the driver of the Landrover suffered serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.

The families of all three have been informed.

The driver of the BMW was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and will be taken into custody once he has been treated for his injuries.

The road was blocked in both directions at the junction with The Street and the junction with Calvert Road while police dealt with the incident. Road closures are likely to remain in place for some time and motorists are advised to seek an alternative route.
