Guildford’s Mayor Unable to Chair Council Meeting for Health Reasons

Guildford’s Mayor Cllr Richard Billington was too unwell to chair the full council meeting last night (October 6).

As the deputy mayor, Cllr Marsha Moseley, was also unavailable the council elected former council leader Paul Spooner to chair their meeting. A party colleague of the mayor, Cllr Spooner read out the mayor’s apologies and said that he was due to undergo an MRI scan.

We understand that the mayor is currently in hospital while further tests are conducted.

The council sent Cllr Billington their best wishes.
