Drivers are advised of changes to A3 and A245 next week.
National Highways announced that improvements are aimed at reducing congestion along the A3 and A245 at the Painshill junction just north of M25/A3 junction 10.
The new road layout will be live from 6am today, Monday July 24.
Before National Highways can start the main package of road improvements, the A245 carriageway will need to be reduced to one lane westbound between Painshill and the junction with Seven Hills Road.
This is to allow for the safe removal of gas pipes and electrical cables that are currently in the way.
There will also be weeknight overnight closures on the same stretch heading eastbound. These overnight closures will be in place until September 2023.
A fully signed diversion will be in place via B365, A317 and A244. The A245 and surrounding roads are expected to be busy, so drivers are being advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.
The diversion route is designed for all vehicle types. National Highway is advising motorists not to use a SatNav when following the diversion because there is a risk it could direct drivers down an unsuitable road or towards a closed road.
The carriageway upgrade is part of National Highways M25 J10 improvement scheme at Wisley, which will upgrade the M25 junction with the A3 Wisley Interchange to reduce congestion, improve safety and create more reliable journeys.
The scheme will also see improvements made to the A245, which will increase from two to three lanes westbound as it approaches the Seven Hills Road junction from the Painshill. Further upgrades include:
