From: Keith Witham

Conservative county and borough councillor representing Pirbright

In response to: What Are the Political Parties Doing About the Stoney Castle Dump?

There has always been a multi-agency approach to the issues at Stoney Castle since the burning started and I have been in regular contact with Surrey County Council, Guildford Borough Council and the Environment Agency, as well as others, to support that approach.

This is essential because each has different powers and responsibilities under different pieces of legislation.

On behalf of Pirbright residents, I support any action to stop the burning and misuse of the land, bring those responsible to justice, as well as the action already taken against those responsible for the land who have allowed this to happen.

They failed to take the action they should have done to stop it, particularly the individual found guilty at Guildford Crown Court against whom a Proceeds of Crime Award was made for approx £27,000.

I am also clear that the family who own the land must not be allowed to benefit financially in any way”
