Letter: Dismissal of Normandy’s Former Assistant Parish Clerk Rescinded

From: Roshan Bailey

Friends of Normandy’s former assistant clerk are pleased to confirm that he has been fully cleared of culpability in relation to the failings reported in the audit for 2019-2020.

The failings of the parish council had also been identified in the previous year’s audit, and both financial years ended before Josey Garbutt started work as assistant clerk.

When Josey’s appeal was finally considered and investigations had been carried out, Cllr David Bilbe, who had become the chairman of Normandy Parish Council, wrote “I would like to apologise for the unsatisfactory way in which this situation was managed and for the poor manner in which you were treated.”

The dismissal was rescinded, but his previous position is no longer available, so Josey’s employment has ended by agreement.
