Conservative borough councillor for Ash South & Tongham
In response to: Small Yet Effective Steps to Really Bring Guildford Back to a New Life
How many masterplans do we need in Guildford?
Bill Stokoe’s letter points out what is needed in reality rather than in vision, and very few would argue with GVG on smartening up the town but, sadly, the public realm improvements planned under the former administration have not been changed to suit a new R4GV agenda. They have been cut (official status is “put on indefinite hold”) and that is disappointing.
The fourth masterplan in a decade has been commissioned by John Rigg but I am not allowed to comment on the content of the recent presentation to councillors at this time as it is classified top secret by this “open and transparent” administration.
I wonder if GVG is in a better position than elected councillors, given the content of the R4GV masterplan briefing appeared to surprise many of their own party colleagues as well as the rest of the elected members. Where is the consultation?
