Letter: Even Councillors Can’t Get Through to GBC

Communication with Guildford Borough Council is disgraceful, even if they are said to be recovering from the Covid effect.

More common than not, one can be an hour on hold on the “customer service” number, even if one has a personal direct number.

Emails get an auto-response and maybe a “read” receipt. The promised 10-day reply never comes.

It is the same for a letter; not 10 days but 10 weeks.

Even Cllr George Potter [Lib Dem, Burpham] has documented his problems in trying to find officers and response to questionable works on rough land off Clay Lane on social media.

When even a councillor can’t get through there is obviously a problem. We need a proper audit of the council’s compliance with its own standards and protocols.
