Tree felling in Bummoor Copse, Compton, May 2025.

In response to: The Blocking of a Well-used, Valued Path Is Causing Ill-feeling

Loseley seem to be going out their way to alienate local people.

Last year, during the nesting season, large swathes of woodland was cut down surrounding the very popular bluebell woods, Bummor Copse, in Compton. The police were called but no action was taken.

Loseley said it was woodland management. It wasn’t. They sold the timber.

Now, for no real valid reason, they again, are spoiling the enjoyment of many by shutting off a very popular walk.

Loseley Estate is not an island. It is located within a community and I, like many, will be boycotting all events associated with the estate.

How to ruin a good name and goodwill.

Editor’s note: Loseley had permission to carry out the tree felling from the Forestry Commission and the police found no offence had been committed.
