A spokesperson for the University of Surrey told The Dragon: “…..We remain committed to working with Guildford Borough Council, Surrey County Council, the Royal Surrey County Hospital and others to deliver an integrated solution that solves rather than exacerbating local traffic issues in Guildford.”

It tells me that not enough consultation had taken place between SCC, GBC and the university. How is this possible? All parties should be actively participating on such projects for the benefit of the community.

It is unclear to me how a new bus lane on Gill Avenue towards the Hospital would contribute to the deterioration of traffic movements into the Research Park. I would welcome some explanation from the university on the issues they have raised.

I hope the university is actively engaging with the councils and Highways England (HE) for the A3 widening although this scheme has been postponed for now. I believe the University stands to gain a lot from consultation on this scheme especially for the proposed developments of Blackwell Farm, GBC on Onslow Park & Ride issue and the HE on Beechcroft Drive junction problems.

My suggestion for the A3 widening and access to Blackwell Farm is shown in the sketch that can be seen here.
