Letter: Keep Your Toys in the Pram and Find Out What People Really Think

In response to: ‘It Is the Duty, of All Politicians to Call Out This Nonsense,’ Warns R4GV Leader

I just wish that everyone would keep their toys in the pram and follow a more grown-up path. We need civilised debate rather than name-calling.

Our local politicians should respect the views of others and display a willingness to consider compromise.

Above all, please forget party politics and find out what local people really think.

No doubt I shall be accused of naivety but I am fed up with all this bickering. The world is in a parlous state – you can’t put everything right but with a little goodwill, this small corner of it could be improved.

    Absolutely right.

“Hopefully the developers appeal, the council loses and it doesn’t cost too much money,” said Cllr Bigmore after the North Street redevelopment was refused planning permission.

Cllr Bigmore had spoken strongly for the 13-storey development at that planning committee meeting.

Surely his reaction was like throwing his building blocks out of his pram.

I totally agree with Ms Critchfield. These are local elections, and should be about local matters not national politics.

The Liberal Democrats, in particular, seem to be very confused judging from the literature they have produced. Who is the leader of the Lib Dem Guildford Borough councillors? I have no idea, but I do know it is not Zoe Franklin, who has not been elected to any position by the local population (apart from other Liberal Democrats) since she stepped down as a borough councillor years ago.
