Letter: Labour Attack on Lib Dems Was a Wasted Opportunity

In response to: Lib Dems Winning Where Exactly?

I was very disappointed while reading the piece by Guildford Labour’s Brian Creese that he chose to waste the majority of the article complaining about the Liberal Democrats. What a lost opportunity to tell us about what Labour would do.

He has included a very misleading bar chart showing national voting intention which tells us nothing about Guildford or Surrey. The fact is that the Liberal Democrats did rather well in Guildford in May 2019, winning 17 borough council seats.

At Surrey County Council they are the leading opposition to the Conservatives.

Nationally, the Guildford parliamentary constituency is a target seat for the party, ranked as 11th most winnable in the country. In the December 2019 general election they were just 3,337 votes away from returning a Liberal Democrat MP to Westminster, something which perhaps Labour voters might wish to reflect on.

Well it’s got The Dragon a lot of publicity. Maybe some more facts can open a few eyes and hearts?

You will see what we plan to do when our fabulous manifesto drops through your door soon! 🙂

Jacob Allen is the Labour candidate for Guildford South West in the forthcoming SCC election.
