In response to: I Would Rather Have Potholes Filled
Surely it is more dangerous if “most” traffic is already travelling at 20mph and then some drivers come through the area faster.
Wales has had 100 fewer fatalities in the first year since introducing the lower limits (a 28 per cent reduction) and TFL attributes 23 per cent of the 35 per cent reduction in its accident statistics to the lower limits.
While potholes are of course an issue, I’d rather we focussed on saving lives and reducing accidents with the limited funds we have. That and taking a holistic approach, reducing the wear and tear on our roads that causes potholes by reducing speeds and making it safer for people to choose other forms of transport such as walking and cycling.

Chilworth has two schools, a station, two level crossings, zero pedestrian crossings, and people killed on the road already.
While squandering all that money on the nonsense 20 mph unenforced zone in Shalford, SCC refuses to put in place any speed enforcement or traffic calming, any road crossing, or to reduce the speed limit for which locals have been campaigning for years and years. The county council never fails to fail.
