Letter: The GBC Executive Has No Influence Over the Selection of Candidates

Published on: 11 Sep, 2018

Cllr Nils Christiansen

From Paul Spooner

Leader of Guildford Borough Council and Conservative borough councillor for Ash South & Tongham

In response to: I Appreciate Councillor Christiansen – Why Was He Deselected?

Guildford Borough Council Executive has no influence over the selection of candidates at GCA [Guildford Conservative Association] or any other association, except the borough [council] leader is invited to attend all stage 1 interviews as a none voting observer. Cllr Nils Christiansen was selected at Stage 1.

It is disappointing that Alderman Bridger tries to pin anything that happens politically on the council Executive in an effort to push his own political agenda of undermining the leadership at GBC because we did not cancel SANGS [Suitable Alternative Natural Green Spaces] and build on all the allocated public green space instead.

The use of abbreviations and acronyms means no one has any idea what is being talked about.

    SITD (Still in the Dark).

Thank you for your comment. I have added an explanation of the only undescribed acronym. Ed

A nod is as good as a wink to a blind horse.

Our dear leader protests too much, methinks.
