In response to: Agencies Can’t Agree A Statement on Weir Bridge Repair
Considering all the facts, it is time someone banged their heads together.
My personal assessment of the division of responsibility at the time the weir collapsed was:
Guildford Borough Council, 33 per cent – as they failed to maintain the correct flow rate through the mill race by adding the trapezoidal weir behind it, changing flow balance in the system;
National Trust, 33 per cent for running the river too fast this past 20 years causing additional high erosion at this location: While
Environment Agency, the fount of all knowledge, needs to accept responsibility for oversight of river speeds and flows. This was pathetic so hey should pay 33 per cent too.
I see no reason why Thames Water is involved.

Totally agree.
Don’t Thames Water have some sort of facility next to the Yvonne Arnaud, not sure what it does but maybe that’s why they should be involved?
It would make it better, 25 per cent each.
