In response to: Guildford is Under Attack from Advertisers

An excellent article from John Harrison which leaves very little room for disagreement.

No one, least of all Cllr Furniss, provides any evidence that shoppers in Guildford want this additional advertising, extra obstructions or an extra place to display wellbeing messages!

In fact, as Cllr Furniss essentially admits, it is a revenue-raising scheme for SCC simply inflicted on Guildford residents.

I do wonder, however, how the rapidly approaching local government reorganistion will affect things.

There will be no SCC in two year’s time – I wonder if that is factored into the contract? Or will a local authority that doesn’t even exist yet be saddled with these unneeded, unnecessary digital advertising screens?
