Letter: You Can’t Keep Building Houses Without Sufficient Sewerage

In response to: Guildford’s MP Defends Government On Sewage Discharge Into Rivers

I have been shouting from the rooftops since 2014 at all involved about Moorefields sewage treatment works (STW) capacity being exceeded by 2025. Yet the new STW will not be completed by 2027. But no one has joined my shouts.

Why won’t people realise the fundamental problems of capacity with the STWs in Guildford? It is the capacity that is the issue, not sewage releases into the Wey. You can’t keep building houses without infrastructure.

It is not our MP’s stance that is the problem, but the constant “just one more house” until the camel’s back is broken.

All those involved bear a responsibility.
